Welcome to the Marine Coatings and Repair home page of Ben's Paint Supply. In addition to a variety of marine paints, we offer a selection of polyester and epoxy repair products as well. If you are not dealing with a marine application, but what you want to fix or paint is made of fiberglass, this area is for you too. If you are dealing with plastics, we suggest that you also take a look at our Automotive/Collision processes for repairing and painting plastics. The systems are the same as long as they are above the water line.

Repair

If you need to repair a scratch or replace the floor in your boat, let us help you with polyester and epoxy repair products from Fiberglass Coatings and Evercoat. We also carry the West system of epoxies, F.O.M. specialty epoxies and waterproof polyester fillers. Add to that fiberglass resin, matting, cloth, woven roving, specialty fillers such as Cab-O-Sil and chopped fibers, and the tools needed to apply them. Expandable polyurethane foam will help to add flotation or fill in voids.

Repaint

Actually, as long as you are painting above the waterline, the bulk of topcoats that we sell for boats and marine use is mostly automotive single stage urethanes, due to their durability and economy. Ask for PPG Shopline JAU, Delfleet Essential or Concept. All systems have compatible epoxy primers for adhesion or blockable polyester primers to handle heavy scratches or minor waviness. If "boat" is an understatement, you may be interested in the Awlgrip line of high performance, smooth and extremely durable polyurethane topcoats, from standard Awlgrip to Awlcraft 2000. Colors are available in custom mix or factory packaged quarts and gallons. A selection of state-of-the-art primers and sealers accompanies this complete line. Normally sprayed, there are also extended flow additives to allow brushing or rolling.

If you don't have a spray gun, consider the economically priced Pettit line of non-catalyzed urethane topcoats. These can be brushed or rolled (or sprayed too). With a high quality brush, this paint flows so well that some- times it's hard to tell the difference. Anti-fouling paints, for use below the waterline, are available from both Pettit and Awlgrip.

PPG has many formulas for popular outboard motor colors.   Most are available in both single stage and basecoat/clearcoat.
